Wed-Cycled {like recycled}

When you plan a wedding, we go straight to one place, Pinterest. Well, most brides do anyways. You get hundreds to thousands of dollars worth of décor items, make your own personal touches, or just buying things specifically for your wedding day. What do you do with everything afterwards? What do you do when you have six totes of candles and cylinders and tulle and ...oh man, everything!?

For some people, they join Facebook groups that offer brides to be and brides who have recently become a Mrs. the chance to buy and sell those décor items. Some brides sell them to a consignor shop, a shop where brides, grooms, other types of customers sell items to a bridal/reused shop, and get a percentage of what their items might be sold for. Other couples will see if the venue or the designer (florist or rental company) would like those items for sell at a half price (remember it is used, no matter how personal it means to you).

For me, I love it when brides have some things and want to sell it to me. I know that it’s taken care of (they are usually my brides), but they also will be good use for our non profit, Wish To Be Hitched, and can go to couples who may not be able to provide a design or stylistic look they want.

Recycling your wedding décor is a good use for your pockets, for other less fortunate bridal couples, and I am sure, the rooms in your house, car, storage, garage, or wherever you may have stored it.

The best ways to get rid of your décor items falls into your hands, but for me, I would also try to donate first and sell second. If you can donate to an organization that helps with other bridal couples that may not have it all, that is ideal and loving. However, loving doesn’t pay the bills, so if you are looking for cash, reach out to your local florist, stylist, rental and décor company and see if they are willing to buy your items. My last choice would be the Facebook groups. Those can be hard to trust people with their items (or people in general) and can also be things you can buy at Hobby Lobby or Michael's and in better condition (and less than what the seller wants for them).

I would highly suggest if you go the route of working with a designer (florist or rental décor company) that you speak with them first (before you buy anything). You don’t want to buy a wood “Mr. & Mrs.” sign and then they have ten already, or maybe that company doesn’t work with burlap or they don’t work with a lot of bling - I love bling!!
